I am often asked to lower my prices, so I feel that I should explain exactly what my pricing is based on. I would much rather explain a high price than make excuses for inferior quality.

The first consideration is cost of materials used. When it comes to  using quality hardwoods, you must understand that the raw materials are expensive to start with. Oak generally runs about $7.00 per square foot for 3/4" material as an example. The materials portion of my price is based on the cost of the wood actually used times 1.5 plus the cost of any additional materials such as glass, special hardware, backing materials, etc.. The 1.5 multiplier is used to account for finishing materials and common hardware.

The second consideration is time involved in a project. I use a basic shop rate of $12.00 per hour which takes into account everything that isn't materials, including my tools and accessories such as blades, sanding materials, router bits, electricity, a roof over my head and my labor. In actuality, I generally average maybe $5.00 per hour for my efforts. I love what I do, so this isn't a problem for me, but please understand that this does not allow for me to haggle on my prices.

In some instances, such as the scroll sawn, framed silhouette patterns,  items can be "stack cut" which allows me to produce maybe 3 items at the same time. This allows the pricing on these items to be lower than on similar free standing items.

I thank you for taking the time to read this page and hope that you understand my pricing policies. If you have any questions regarding pricing or would like a quote on something, please e-mail me.
