Something that many of us don't think about is safe handling of wood and the dust created when we spend time sitting at our scroll saws. Our fine blades create a very fine dust, the evidence is all over our shops. When we cut for extended times, the fine dust covers our faces, and coats our eyebrows and the inside of our noses. You may feel some throat irritation, tearing eyes, and other symptoms. Those are annoyances. The real issue is the asthma inducing, allergenic and carcinogenic properties of these wood by-products. Please consider dust collection and filtration systems of some sort, including paper filter masks, when using your scroll saw.
